Four Fab Ways to Celebrate Women’s Day
Four Fab Ways to Celebrate Women’s Day
Every woman’s success should be an inspiration to another
Serena Williams
Considered by many, the greatest athletes of all time, 23 Grand Slam Title Winner and 4-time Olympic gold medallist, Serena Williams makes a strong statement, for women globally. And as we zoom in on Women’s Month, in South Africa, we think it’s a great time to ask yourself - who are the strong women in your life? Who are the women that support you, every day? And how can you celebrate this important time with them?
We’d like to suggest four, fabulous ways inspire and delight these special women. You, of course, being one of them.
1. Make a statement
As a philanthropist, Melinda Gates says, “A woman with a voice is, by definition, a strong woman.” Whether on social or stiletto platforms, share your voice and opinions and know what you have to say is of value. You also make a statement by wearing something that speaks of who you are.

2. Do Something Amazing
The actress, Blake Lively once said, “The most beautiful thing a woman can wear is confidence.” Self-confidence is built by taking on new challenges and overcoming things you thought you couldn't do. So whether it be jumping off the Bloukrans Bridge, diving into a challenging creative project or asking for a table for one at a fabulous new restaurant or coffee shop, go for it!

3. Take a Road Trip
The beautiful, witty, eccentric actress Katherine Hepburn famously quipped, “If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.” Now’s the time for you do a “Thelma & Louise” and take a spontaneous road trip with your bestie or besties. According to Road Trip South Africa, 5 of the best routes to take are:
- The Garden Route, Western Cape
- The Waterberg Meander, Limpopo
- The Wild Coast, Eastern Cape
- Route 62, Western Cape
- The Panorama Route, Mpumalanga

4. Host a Movie Evening to Celebrates Women’s Month
Invite your superwomen squad over, pop a cork and some popcorn too – and settle into an evening of classic viewing. Some of our favourites include Erin Brockovich (an unemployed single mother who becomes an activist for clean water after speaking out against one of the biggest gas corporations); Hidden Figures (the story of a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program) and, of course, Wild (the book-turned-movie that inspired women to pack up their belongings and hike solo - 1,100 miles along the Pacific Crest Trail).
